Meet Samir

My name is Samir Murr and I am the founder of the Woodborn Studio. Growing up in the marble industry, which has been my family's business for decades, I developed a keen eye for detail and a deep passion for artisanal craftsmanship. When I moved to Montreal to study architecture, I was introduced to woodworking and fell in love with learning new techniques and exploring the medium.

In 2018, a friend approached me with a request for a custom longboard that couldn't be found on the market. As an avid rider and adventurer, I decided to take on the challenge and experiment with creating the board. The end result was a huge success and marked the beginning of the Woodborn adventure.

The Studio

Launched in 2019, Woodborn Studio initially focused on crafting custom longboards. However, as our passion for woodworking grew, we expanded our collection to include furniture, art-deco pieces, and custom projects.

Today, our workshop offers a diverse range of solid wood products, including custom projects and restoration services. Our mission is to create timeless pieces with durable materials and solid structures, achieved through a combination of adequate techniques and meticulous material selection for each project.
